Thirupugazh, taught with care

Thirupugazh is a collection of Tamil devotional hymns to Lord Murugan, composed by the poet-saint Arunagirinathar in the 15th century. The songs are famous for their intricate rhythms (sandham) and rich poetry.

Our teachers break each hymn into small parts: first the words and their meaning, then the rhythm, then the melody. Students perform together at temple festivals, Kanda Sashti and our annual cultural day.
